Mission Statement of Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

We, the faithful of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Germantown, Philadelphia, in communion with our Holy Father, shepherd of the universal Church and our Archbishop, shepherd of the Church in Philadelphia, proclaim to everyone the Good News that Jesus Christ is the Light of the world, who offers to all who follow Him the light of life.

We desire to share this Light entrusted to us through Baptism in Christ Jesus. Confirmed by the gift of the Holy Spirit, we wish to share this Light with all by proclaiming the Gospel of forgiveness and reconciliation to every person.

We are one in our Church's teaching and in the variety of the gifts, services and ministries that we employ to help build up the Kingdom of God. We, therefore, commit oursevles to:

.....worship together as the family of God in the fullest expression of our Catholic idenity "in spirit and in truth" tasting and seeing the goodness of the Lord. From the Word and the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist, we draw life-giving graces for daily existence, celebbrating in gesture and in song, coming together as the many diverse members of Christ's Body.

.....share, through our Christian words and actions, with the churched and the unchurched in our homes, on our blocks, and in our neighborhoods, the good news of our salvation that Jesus Christ is Lord, inviting all to be a part of our Catholic faith and mission.

.....teach formally and informally the redemptive message of Christ so that all people might be convicted, liberated, and empowered.

.....minister in service by seeing and hearing the needs of the parish/neighborhood, reflecting on those needs and then acting with charity and with justice.

We pray to Father, Son and Holy Spirit, through the intercession of Mary, Immaculate Conception, to whose care the Parish is consecrated, and through St. Vincent de Paul, the Church's model of charity. May the Lord of Light guide us in our earthly journey and our heavenly home.
